Volunteer Counselling Placements

We do not currently have any vacancies but if you are interested in a volunteer counselling placement in the future please email admin@womenssupportcentresurrey.org.uk  with your details and CV and we will contact you in the future when we do have vacancies.

The Women’s Support Centre has a well-established counselling service. We welcome both qualified counsellors and student counsellors. Whether you wish to gain more experience, are working towards your 100 hours or are looking to gain your accreditation we would love to be able to support you while you support the women in our charity.

Our clients’ needs are varied.  The women we work with will have a link to the criminal justice system and will be women who have complex life stories and traumas. Our counselling team works alongside our substance misuse team, generic support team and crime diversion project. We collaboratively work to create a women only space.

We are keen to hear from female volunteers who are able to offer a minimum of 3 hours of their time on a weekly basis. Our clients are offered 26 counselling sessions so we ask that you are able to provide counselling for this period to all your clients

COVID has created many challenges for both mental health and the counselling community. We are committed to being able to offer a flexible and accessible service throughout this difficult time and are currently offering both remote and face-to-face counselling.

We pride ourselves on being a well-respected counselling placement. We work within the BACP ethical framework and have a Humanist/Person centred approach.  Each of our counsellors receive monthly individual and group supervision, as well as continued professional development through training days, all funded by us. Never wanting our volunteers to be out of pocket we also ensure travel expenses are reimbursed.

Before applying we ask that you have or are in the process of obtaining the below:
  • BACP membership
  • Work within a humanistic modality
  • Qualified or working towards a recognised counselling qualification (Level 4 and above)
  • Hold an up to date enhanced DBS
  • Have a certificate of proficiency
